Magnifying and Reading Text
- Move the mouse pointer to the text that you want to be magnified. The text is gradually magnified from the beginning of the paragraph, and reading begins. You do not have to click the mouse.
(Click : Pressing the left button one time. )
- Themagnification window shows the section of the Web page where the mouse pointer is pointing. This portion will be read out loud.

- The text will be read continuously until the end of the paragraph, at which point it stops.

- To continue reading, please move the mouseto the next paragraph.

Notes on Easy Web Browsing Reading
- Each paragraph is read from the beginning to the end.
Easy Web Browsing cannot read only one sentence in a paragraph or from the middle of a paragraph. - If you point to a paragraph, reading begins from the beginning of that paragraph.
You do not need to point the mouse to the beginning of the paragraph. - Do not move the mouse while Easy Web Browsing is magnifying or reading text.
Reading will stop if you move the mouse, and the reading portion will be switched to the new portion.
- Responses may be delayed if you are reading a frame, long page, etc.
- Some pages may not be readable.

Linking to Other Pages
Move the mouse to a link and click it. When the mouse pointer is reshaped to look like a hand, that represents a link.

Setting Easy Web Browsing Options
You can change Easy Web Browsing speech rates, screen display sizes, and color settings, using buttons on the upper portion of the screen. Changed settings are not changed until the next time you start Easy Web Browsing.
If these buttons are not displayed, you can display them by opening the setting panel from the Setting button and unchecking "Display Reading Preparation Status." For details, readThe Speech Function inMaking Advanced Settings (for Power Users).
Enable or disable continuous reading mode
Click thePage button to enable continuous reading mode. Click the button again to disable it.

("Page": Read out the document and the links in the page contiously till the end of the page. The highlighted text moves in sync with the reading text.)
Changing the Screen Display Size
You can adjust the screen display size within the range of 50% to 600% by clicking theOut button,In button.
- The size becomes larger in the following order:
50 → 75 → 100 → 125 → 150 → 175 → 200 → 300 → 400 → 600% each time you clickIn) - The size becomes smaller in the following order:
600 → 400 → 300 → 200 → 175 → 150 → 125 → 100 → 75 → 50% each time you clickOut)

Enable or disable ruler mode
Click theRuler button to display the ruler. Click the button again disable it.

The color, type, and width of the ruler can be set on the"Ruler Settings" panel. Open the advanced settings panel for "Others" by clicking the page-turning button at the right bottom corner of each operation panel. For details on how to change advanced settings, please see this.
When Easy Web Browsing is launched for the first time, "Magenta" is selected as the initial setting.
Changing the Style
The style determines the foreground and background colors.
Click the Style button to cycle through these options.

Examples of Easy Web Browsing Styles
The following pictures show each style. The order shown is the order in which screen colors change each time you press theStyle button.
- Black text on a white background with blue for links for normal display,
- Yellow text on a blue background with white for links,
- Black text on a light yellow background with blue for links,
- Yellow text on a black background with white for links.

Printing
You can print out the page you are currently browsing by clicking thePrint button. Printing starts immediately after you click the button.
If you want to change the printer settings, use the Windows Settings or Control Panel.
When a page that consists of frames is printed out, the frames will be printed out in the order shown in the following example.
- If you want to change the printer settings, change the Windows printer settings in advance.
- If you have changed the screen style or magnified a portion of the Web page, printing may not be done correctly. We recommend that you print a page when the sytle is set on normal display with no magnification.

- When a page that consists of frames is printed out, the frames will be printed out in the order shown in the following example.
(Frame: A way of configuring a page by partitioning one window into several areas and displaying separate contents in each area.)

Using the Keyboard
(Please read this section only if you want to manipulate the buttons via the keyboard.)
- Shift the focus between the operation panel and the page display section by pressing the Alt key
If you press the Alt key when the focus on the page display section, the focus shifts to the operation panel.
If you press the Alt key when the focus is on the operation panel, the focus shifts to the page display section. - Alt Key Operations
Move the mouse to the upper operation panel and click an area other than buttons to start keyboard operations.
Then, press a key in the following list to select the button you want:
- Alt + 1: Top
- Alt + 2: Back
- Alt + 3: Stop
- Alt + 4: Rate↓
- Alt + 5: Rate↑
- Alt + 6: Volume↓
- Alt + 7: Volume↑
- Alt + 8: Zoom↓
- Alt + 9: Zoom↑
- Alt + C: Style
- Alt + P: Print
- Alt + S: Setting
- Alt + 0(Zero): Exit
To indicate that the button has been selected, it will be surrounded by an orange frame. PressEnter or theSpacebar to perform the button's function.
- Letter keys are not case-sensitive. Upper and lowercase letters both work.
- You cannot use the keyboard to close the setting panel. Click the Exit button.
- You can also use the Tab key to select buttons.
- Using the Tab Key
Click an area other than the operation buttons by moving the mouse to the upper portion of the buttons.
Each time you press theTab key, a button is selected in the order listed below. If you hold theShift key while pressingTab, a selection is made in the opposite order.
Top → Back → Stop → Rate↓ → Rate↑ → Volume↓ → Volume↑ → Page → Button for setting panel → Zoom↓ → Zoom↑ → 100% → Button for setting panel → Space↓ → Space↑ → Ruler → Style → Button for setting panel → Print → Setting → Help → ExitThe selected button is indicted by an orange frame. PressEnter or theSpacebar to perform the button's function.
- You cannot close the setting panel by using keys. To close the panel, press the Exit button in the setting panel.
Moving the Reading Position within a Paragraph
When a long paragraph is being read out loud, you can move the reading position to the top or end of the paragraph or to the immediately preceding character string or the next one by pressing anarrow key while holding down theCtrl key.
Pressing theCtrl key +up arrow key returns the reading position to the top of the paragraph.
Pressing theCtrl key +down arrow key advances the reading position to the end of the paragraph.
Pressing theCtrl key +left arrow key returns the reading position to the immediately preceding character string.
Pressing theCtrl key +right arrow key advances the reading position to the next character string.
When the focus is not in the area displaying a page, this function cannot be used. To apply the focus to the area displaying a page, click anywhere in the page (such as the margin) other than links.
Changing Easy Web Browsing Advanced Settings
Various other functions are available with Easy Web Browsing so that you can enjoy network surfing more conveniently and comfortably. For details on how to change advanced settings,please see this.
