Contribution to Society by Extensive Activities image

Since the inception of the "social contribution" program in 1974, IBM Japan has conducted social contribution activities for more than a quarter of a century in certain areas such as education, science, social welfare and corporate culture. On this page, other major social activities, which are not strictly classifiable as social contribution activities, are introduced.

1. Used PC Donation Support Program
IBM Japan has received great sympathy in its environmental contribution that effectively utilizes used PCs, and in 2001 donated more than 1,000 used PCs, which were received from users, to 385 organizations and facilities.
2. Support for Land Mine Removal
At present, the number of land mines buried in the world is estimated to be more than 100 million, and over 25,000 casualties are recognized each year. This means that someone is being hurt or killed by a land mine somewhere in the world at the surprising pace of one person every twenty minutes.
