SUMITOMO MITSUI BANKING CORPORATION
The Japan Research Institute, Limited
Using Open Source Software Effectively Achieving Reduction in System Construction Time and Cost
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (hereafter, SMBC) has rebuilt its credit administration system that makes the final decision on financial loans and manages customers' credit information as a web-based system. For the development of this new credit administration system, a large-scale project was started centering on the Japan Research Institute, Ltd. (hereafter, JRI), part of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. Using Open Source Software (hereafter, OSS) and IBM's software assets effectively, SMBC worked efficiently on this project.
And, in this project, SMBC has unified and synthesized the credit collective decision-making systems and subsystems, and linked them seamlessly. Through implementing navigation that responds to the registration process and smooth screen transitions, SMBC has succeeded in taking the convenience for users to a higher level.
