Software technology progresses day by day, and new technologies appear one after another.
The optimal use of these new technologies will bring immeasurable value to enterprise businesses. However, it cannot be said that new technologies are embraced adequately in Japan.
Because of the lack of track records, business owners and managers may consider adopting new technologies risky. But there is another reason. It lies in the structure of Japanese businesses' information systems.
In a typical Japanese company, information systems are often developed separately for individual departments so that the infrastructure is not necessarily built aiming for total optimization. Consequently, the adoption of a new technology requires a lot of time and effort for the change to the system, not to mention substantial costs.
In order to break free from this situation, individual businesses need to actively adopt new technologies with a willingness to try new things. Through various efforts, IBM will support our customers as they face their challenges and contribute to the development of the industry in Japan.
